A newly released Epson data and video projector, the Pro Cinema 1985, features high white and color brightness rated at 4800 lumens and a 1920 x 1200 resolution that allows for crisp, easy to read images even when ambient light is present in conference rooms or sports bars.
While missing some features often found in business projectors such as 3D and frame interpolation, the 1985 includes a native 16:10 aspect ratio, digital zoom, auto-keystone and a pointer on the remote.
According the reviewers, the wheelhouse application for the 1985 resides in the boardroom and conference room where displaying text, spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations predominate.
Weak black levels, that become most apparent when movies with dark scenes are projected on a large screen, make this projector not suitable for home theater. But for sports programming, which is usually brightly illuminated, the 1985 works well in casinos and sports bars.
Other features include: wireless streaming from computer, tablet or smartphone; 3LCD light engine, split screen capability; 16W built-in audio; a 3000 hour rated lamp (ELPLP77) in normal mode and 4000 in eco mode.
Release date: December 2015.
Current retail price: $2500.
