    Bilirubin Blue Light Bulbs

Bilirubin light bulbs are coated with a special phosphor to emit a deep blue spectrum of light (around 450nm peak wavelength), without excess UV radiation, especially harmful UVB or UVC light. These "bili blue" bulbs are used to treat neonatal jaundice, as the blue light is able to penetrate the skin of infants and help decompose excess bilirubin in the baby's bloodstream. These bulbs also have other phototherapy and commercial uses, including polymerization of blue-sensitive materials.
